Second Generation Pontiac Firebird Coilover Kit

While still based on the F-body platform, the longer, lower, wider second-generation Firebird carried over from its predecessor a unibody structure with a separate front subframe, an independent front suspension, and leaf springs at the rear axle.
Over its 12-year run, the most popular model year was 1979, with 211,453 Firebirds sold, of which 177,108 were Trans Am models. That year, Pontiac first offered the new WS6 special performance package on the Trans Am, including a beefier rear sway bar, a close-ratio steering box, and incremental frame reinforcements.
Even with the WS6 package, much can be done to improve the suspension of a second-gen Firebird, especially coilover conversions.
The Aldan American front coilover conversion is available with single- or double-adjustable shocks. The coilovers can be combined with single adjustable rear shocks, either as part of a package or separately, to provide more balanced handling.
