The third-generation Oldsmobile 4-4-2 was both larger and heavier than its predecessors. It continued to ride on a full perimeter frame with coil springs all around, with an independent set-up at the front and a solid axle controlled by trailing arms and a Panhard link. Like the 1972 4-4-2, the W-29 package remained an optional handling and appearance package on upper Cutlass models. The 4-4-2 package included the FE2 suspension package, specific grilles, emblems and stripes; a dual exhaust system and Super Stock wheels were optional. 1976-1977 models shared the same NASCAR-intended aero styling as the Cutlass S.
An ideal upgrade for the 1973-1977 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 is an Aldan American coilover suspension package, which is 100% bolt-on with no cutting, drilling or welding required for an easy installation.
The Aldan American front coilover conversion is available with single- or double-adjustable shocks. The coilovers can be combined with single adjustable rear shocks, either as part of a package or separately, to provide more balanced handling.
